Journalists from the Middle East and North Africa are encouraged to enter the "Expressions of Al-Nakba" competition which focuses on the fate of the Palestinian people.
Expressions of Al-Nakba is an international competition for journalists who are interested in creating the most unique expressions of the loss and resilience of the Palestinian people. This contest is held to remember the 60th anniversary of the Nakba, the term used in the Arab world in reference to the refugee flight of Palestinian Arabs during and after the 1948 Arab-Israeli War.
Competition entries can be in the form of visual arts, essays, video and digital media. The contest is sponsored by the US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation, which is a diverse coalition working for freedom from occupation and equal rights for all by challenging US policy towards the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The deadline for submissions is 30 March. Winners of the competition will be awarded a sum of US $500 each. Winning entrants will be notified via email by 10 May 2008.
