APN is a digital network which supports the development of a stronger independent press in the Arab world by facilitating the exchange of ideas and experiences between newspaper publishers and editors.The network also aims to support newspapers in developing their commercial strategies by distributing leading-edge knowledge and strategies from the industry.
APN is operated by the World Association of Newspapers (WAN) and supported by the leading Danish press group JP/Politiken. The Paris-based WAN is the global organisation for the newspaper industry. It represents 18,000 newspapers in 100 countries. Its membership includes 72 national newspaper associations, individual newspaper executives in 102 countries, 11 news agencies and nine regional and world-wide press groups.
Through the newsletter and the website, APN distributes information and exclusive contributions by media professionals from and for the region about the following subjects: o Advertising & Marketing o Audience Research o Editorial & Content o New Technologies o Personnel Management o Readership & Circulation o Revenue Generating Initiatives o Press Freedom
The newsletter also serves as a conduit of information to the Arab press by providing information on external activities to help Arab press development such as calls for projects, available fellowships and organization of conferences, seminars and training programmes.
